Your shortcuts. Your web.
Einmerker is the German word for something you memorize or bookmark — a mental shortcut. This app brings that idea to your browser.
Instead of typing a URL or wading through pages of search results and ads, you simply type a keyword. If you have saved a shortcut for that keyword, einmerker takes you straight there. No results page, no distractions — just the site you wanted.
Think of it as your personal layer on top of the web — the sites you visit most are always just one keyword away.
The admin can mark shortcuts as public, making them available to everyone — even visitors who are not logged in. Users can log in with GitHub to create their own personal shortcuts alongside the shared ones.
I am using Vivaldi as a browser on both computer and smartphone. In Vivaldi I have set einmerker as my standard search engine. This way I can type keywords directly into the address bar — no need to visit einmerker first. You can download Vivaldi at vivaldi.com/download. Here is how to change the standard search engine:
https://einmerker.de/search?q=%sNow just type any keyword into the address bar and press Enter. If you have a shortcut saved, you will go straight there. Otherwise, your search is forwarded to your fallback search engine.
You can also keep another search engine as default and use the nickname instead:
type e keyword in the address bar to search via einmerker on demand.
